Description
Right in the center of Utrecht you will find KLUTS: a place with fresh pastries and fragrant coffee. Kluts was founded three years ago after the takeover of Carla's Conditorie. Since then they sell only plant-based pastries. You will find homemade cakes, biscuits and pies. If you're in the mood for an old-fashioned slice of apple pie or brownie, you can. But you can also go for one of the less common cakes, such as a pandan coconut cake. In any case, there is plenty of choice.

We would like to get 'something extra' for this. Always very good quality. The snickers are very tasty as is the lemon poppy seed cake. They are large slices and (especially if you drink coffee at Kluts) just a bit too much. But you can take what's left home with you if you want.

Kluts is really my favorite cake shop in the Netherlands, because the cakes taste exactly as you would expect from the non-vegan variant. My favorites are the tiramisu cake and the pandan cake. These kinds of places really help to make veganism mainstream, because no one misses dairy and eggs this way :) It is especially nice in the summer, because the terrace overlooks the beautiful cathedral.

We couldn’t resists getting a little cinnamon roll at Kluts in Utrecht and eating it along the canal. All their pastries are 💯 plantbased. Cute stop for coffee and a sweet.
