Vuurtoren Island is an island in the middle of the Markermeer near Durgerdam which can only be reached by boat. The island is a unique piece of nature with its own flora and fauna. In the spring and summer, you can have lunch and dinner here in the summer restaurant. The summer restaurant is a transparent greenhouse in the middle of the island. In winter, it is possible to have lunch and dinner here in the fortress, which is kept warm by wood burning stoves. Vuurtoren island describes that eating at Vuurtoren island is not an ordinary evening out, but rather an adventurous mini-vacation. It can only be booked as an entire trip, including a round trip by boat and lunch or dinner. As it is a very popular, it is only possible to get here if you book in advance. The menu is a six-course surprise menu where local and seasonal products are used. All dietary requirements can be taken into account. Please let them know when you make your reservation.

Wow! This is not just a dinner but a real experience! I went here with my boyfriend (now ex, but that is not relevant and was certainly not because of this experience ;p). You gather to go here by boat and that's where the adventure begins. Enjoy a nice snack and drink on the boat and then you arrive at a cute island with a lighthouse on it. In the summer you eat in a greenhouse, but we were here in the winter and then you eat in a kind of bunker - with a cozy warm atmosphere! THE FOOD?! The food was sublime! What they can do with ingredients really puts a party on your plate! Highly recommended if you have something to celebrate!
