Description
De Kas is a beautiful restaurant in the Frankendael park in East Amsterdam. De Kas has been awarded for the best organic restaurant in the Netherlands for years in a row. In 2022 they received their first Michelin star. Vegetables are the basis of their menu, accompanied by a portion of fish or meat when appropriate. The vegetables, fruit and herbs come from their own organic greenhouses in Amsterdam or the Beemster. These products are picked freshly every day and the most beautiful and freshest products, moved as quickly as possible from plant to plate. De Kas does not work with an à la carte menu, but with a surprise menu. If you wish, you can get the surprise menu vegan or vegetarian. Please note this when you book a table.
Plant-based food remains special at star level and at De Kas they know very well what they are doing. However, of the five dishes, only two really stood out 'wow wow wow', the rest was just very tasty, but not quite at the level I expected.

I've been wanting to dine at De Kas for months and yesterday was the day 😍 As a vegan you get a 5 course menu here. All dishes were delicious and the structure was great. All vegetables are grown in De Kas at this location or on their plot of land in the Beemster. The menu changes every 1.5 weeks, so you can eat very seasonally and therefore sustainably. From lighter fresh dishes to heavier dishes and a nice fresh dessert. Especially dishes three and four were sublime 💚
Delicious food, good service, beautiful location in De Kas.
I found the tables too big to sit opposite each other with my partner. We also sat next to people who had their 1.5 year old child with them, just unlucky, but of course the restaurant can't do anything about it. But this made the experience just a little less for a star restaurant.

“Harvested in the morning, on your plate in the afternoon” We knew we wanted to visit De Kas for a while and it completely exceeded our expectations. The venue was incredible (we’re planning on coming back for lunch to see it during daytime). Service was on point and the courses were just pure delight.
