Description
SAINT JEAN is a delicious bakery on the Lindengracht in Amsterdam that opened its doors in October 2021. When Yann Pierre-Jean started eating plant-based, he was very disappointed by the flavors of vegan pastries. He decides to bake from home and sell online under the name Rustic Pastry. When Rustic Pastry became very successful, Yann Pierre-Jean opened a bakery in Amsterdam called SAINT JEAN. A vegan bakery, with good coffee and a counter with some chairs. The menu are examples of Saint Jean's menu. The menu changes daily.
Truly mind blowing pastries, Yann! Let us know if you ever want to work w us in the UK www.crepeaffaire.com
Excellent pastries. Never thought vegan could be so superb. Great service & decor
Would give 10 points if there was more seating available. Absolutely loved the vegan pastries at Saint Jean. The flavors and quality reminded of being in Paris and everything was super fresh, too. We had a cruffin (my first time!), a croissant and a cinnamon roll together with a dark hot chocolate! The croissant was our favorite but everything was delicious to be honest.
Large variety of fresh vegan pastries
Little small, would love more seating
Meal: Cruffin, Croissant, Cinnamon Roll (vegan)
When I arrived, my courage sank for a moment because on Sundays at 12:30 there is a line out the door to get something tasty at Saint-Jean. Once inside, we were lucky that there was a spot and we were able to sit and eat the three pastries we had ordered. We had a pumpkin & vanilla cruffin, an almond croissant and a chocolate blueberry cake and it was really AMAZING!!! I have never had such delicious pastry before. It was really bizarre how delicious this was and also 100% plant-based. Very special! In the end it was well worth the wait. We enjoyed it. A 10 for the pastry shop and an 8 because the location is very small and the line was so long. So together I make it a 9.

At SAINT-JEAN we picked up two tasty snacks to take with us. SAINT-JEAN is a cute coffee shop where you can buy all kinds of tasty cakes and sweets and drink coffee. There are a number of small seating areas, but it is also very suitable for take away. I ordered a crustin and another pastry that I can't remember the name of. I thought the crustin was very tasty with good flavors and nice and buttery and airy baked, but I found the other pastry a bit dry and therefore slightly less tasty.

Sundays are for Saint Jean Croissant-Muffins or ‘cruffins’. The best plant based pastries we’ve had so far (and we’ve had many). We were too eager and didn’t take pics but we also got to try their Babka brioche and coffee. The cruffin has the right texture and flavor and honestly surprised us. This type of shop has the potential to completely disrupt the bakery/coffee shop scene. This is what we want. What we need more of. Shops that are great, that attract all types of customers and where plant based is the default but not especially the reason why people come.
I cycle all the way here from the east on the weekends, it's a really fantastic place They have super tasty vegan coffees (only available vegan) including with bean milk, highly recommended. They make their sweets themselves and O M G really very tasty and vegan.
Good vegan coffee, the best snacks ever, homemade, hip look
